Reviews praise Châtel and the Portes du Soleil

Chalet view over Châtel

Once merely the quiet cousin of Les Gets and Morzine, Châtel is now well known as a ski resort village in its own right.  The village feel of Châtel remains and in retaining this very French character the resort offers a distinctly differentiated feeling to its neighbours.  It is a lively and living village, not built over by concrete chalet-hotels or run by tour operators, instead with many high quality individual chalets.  A wonderful winter destination for children and families, friends and couples alike.

Recent investments in new chairlifts and return piste have now fully linked the Super-Chatel sector with Linge, Pré-la-Joux and the rest of the Portes du Soleil.  Upgraded lifts also mean that queues at lifts are much reduced compared to other popular resorts.  The superb free bus system connects all parts of the village and runs into the early evening to satisfy the après-skiers amongst us.

The pistes are well maintained and offer a great range of experiences – from beginner to expert, on and off-piste, fun-Portes du Soleil liftparks and jumps, and there are so many runs to ski that you will be kept entertained all holiday.  If that is not enough there are all manner of other activities both on and off the snow: the mountaintop zip wire, huskies and snake-gliss to name but a few.  For refreshments on the mountain or in the village you will not be short of scrumptious quality or the abundant quantity of good restaurants!
